About the Role
As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll deliver quality Waitrose produce and partner‑led service right to our customers’ doors. When you’re not on the road you’ll be back in the shop supporting the team with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping, helping to keep the shop running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Check your delivery routes for the day.
- Load and prepare your van, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
- Perform all required vehicle safety checks, maintain full road compliance and health and safety.
- Act as an ambassador for the Waitrose brand, providing excellent customer service.
- Help customers with their shopping and build rapport based on trust and service.
- Support the wider shop team with general shop‑keeping tasks as needed.
Essential skills / experience
- Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting crates, walking up staircases, moving cages).
Desirable skills / experience
- Previous experience in a driving role and knowledge of chilled vehicles.
Additional Information
- Pay: £13.00 per hour (£13.25 after 90 days).
- Night premium of £3.75 per hour for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00.
- Contract type: Permanent.
- Hours of work: Varied part‑time hours across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends between 06:30 – 21:30.
- Location: Saxmundham (Waitrose & Partners), Church Street, Saxmundham, Suffolk, IP171EP.
- Legal: Applicants must be 18 years or older. Background checks and vetting may be required – a standard DBS check will be carried out.
