As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll bring the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner-led service right to customers’ doors. Actively playing out our ethos - passionate Partners serving food lovers. When you’re not on the road, you’ll support the team with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping, contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming environment.

In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 and 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour, applicable to existing Partners on Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Minimum age: must be 18 years or older.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check your delivery routes for the day.
  • Load and prepare the van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
  • Ensure all vehicle safety checks are complete, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road, prioritising excellent customer service.
  • Help customers with their shopping and build a rapport with them based on trust and service.
  • Support the wider shop team when required with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills / experience

  • Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Time‑management skills.
  • Ability to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting crates, moving cages).
  • Comfortable working independently with the ability to be self‑motivated and adaptable.
  • IT literate.

Desirable skills / experience

  • Previous experience in a driving role and knowledge of chilled vehicles welcomed.

Compensation & benefits

Pay: £14.31 hourly (temporary contract). In addition, night premium £3.75 per hour for 22:00–06:00 shifts.

Work hours

Hours of work: Varied hours of full‑time work (37.5 hours per week) across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends.
