About the Role
Applicants must be 18 years or over to apply. As a Supermarket Assistant you will help ensure customers feel the Waitrose brand on every visit by delivering Partner-led service and a passion for food. Your drive to go the extra mile will build customer trust and loyalty.
In addition to contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 and 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This applies to existing Partners enrolled in the Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Stock replenishment – keep shelves fully stocked and products in the correct location.
- Fulfil online customer orders ready for drivers to deliver directly to customers' doors.
- Reduce wastage by following product due diligence and marking down items approaching sell‑by dates.
- Support the wider shop team when needed, including checkout support, managing Click & Collect orders, and fulfilling on‑demand customer orders.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment through general shop‑keeping tasks.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Effective communication skills to work as part of a team and with customers.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in a customer‑facing role.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends.
- Flexible approach to support the whole branch.
Pay & Hours
Pay: £13.00 per hour (£13.25 after 90 days). Contract type: Permanent. Hours: Varied part‑time work – 18 hours per week across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends between 20:00 and 06:00.
