As a Vehicle Technician in one of our workshops, you’ll repair and maintain our fleet of delivery vehicles, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy to DVSA and Partnership standards. You will work with experienced technicians who will provide the tools and guidance you need to succeed and develop your knowledge and career.
Evening Premium: Time worked 18:00–22:00 eligible for £3.25 per hour;
Night Premium: Time worked 22:00–06:00 eligible for £4.25 per hour. This applies to existing Partners enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Age requirement: Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be over 18.
Location: Fenny Lock Distribution Centre, John Lewis & Partners, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Salary: Up to £55,000 per year, depending on skills and experience, with overtime readily available.
Contract and hours: Permanent, full‑time, 37.5 hours per week. Typical schedule: Sunday to Wednesday, 20:00–06:00.
Responsibilities:
- You’ll work on our large HGV lorries, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard in line with DVSA and Partnership requirements.
- Complete relevant sections of inspections, services and defect sheets in compliance with our O Licence obligations; process spare requests and time bookings daily.
- Apply best practices and current commercial vehicle repair techniques to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective repairs and appropriate use of parts and consumables.
Qualifications and Skills:
- City and Guilds Level 3 Vehicle Technician or equivalent qualifications.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Proven background in transport or commercial vehicle repairs.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness.
Desirable:
- IRTEC qualification or LGV C+E (driving) licence.
