About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help make a difference to our customers on every visit, providing the Partner‑led service and passion for food that our competitors can’t compete with. Your drive to go the extra mile will shape the impression customers have of the Waitrose brand and keep them returning again and again, earning their trust and loyalty for a lifetime.
In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 – 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This also applies to existing Partners enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Stock replenishment – ensuring shelves are full and products are in the right place at the right time.
- Fulfill online customer orders ready for drivers to deliver directly to customers’ doors.
- Reduce wastage by following due diligence and markdowns for items approaching sell‑by dates.
- Work with the wider shop team to support when needed, including checkout support, managing Click & Collect orders, fulfilling on‑demand customer orders, and more.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment with general shop‑keeping tasks.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Strong communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
- Must be 18 years or older.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience in a customer‑facing role.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge and a strong interest in food and drink trends.
- Flexible approach to support the whole branch.
Working Hours & Pay
- Pay: £13.00 (£13.25 after 90 days).
- Hours: Varied part‑time schedule (25 hours) across seven days – early starts, late finishes, evenings, and weekends (0545‑23:45).
- Contract: Temporary.
- Location: Edenbridge, Kent, TN8 5LN.
