As our Driver Technician Trainee 7.5t, you will be supported through our 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service is your number one priority.
  • Perform daily checks and assist in loading your vehicle with the daily deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
  • Show great respect and courtesy for the customer's home, and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
  • Installing various products (including wall‑mount TVs, integrated appliances, and hard‑wired appliance installations) efficiently and quickly for our customers, demonstrating how they work once installed.
  • Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
  • Adhere to all legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Please note this role involves heavy lifting: you will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Qualifications

  • UK B‑Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Previous experience in a customer‑facing role.
  • Great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.
  • Desirable skills: prior experience in installation and customer delivery services; previous role model or team leader experience.

Benefits & Working Hours

  • In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 and 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium of £2.75 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 and 06:00 will attract a Night Premium of £3.75 per hour.
  • We want all of our Partners to have a good work‑life balance and support flexible working, which may include flexible or compressed hours, job sharing or shorter hour contracts where possible.
  • Due to the nature of these roles, we require all applicants to be 18 or over by their start date.
