Overview
As a Driver Trainee Installer, you will be supported through our 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer with a C1 driving licence. You will drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes and, once fully trained, bring JohnLewis delivery service directly to customers’ doors, installing products such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems and TV sets in a 2‑person crew.
Compensation & Premiums
Annual salary: £29,000.00 – £36,600.00. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 – 22:00 will attract an evening premium of £2.75 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 – 06:00 will attract a night premium of £3.75 per hour. These premiums also apply to existing partners enrolled in Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the 3‑month Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme and meet the relevant criteria to become a fully qualified installer.
- Be an ambassador for the JohnLewis brand, providing exceptional customer service as a priority.
- Assist the warehouse team in loading your vehicle with daily deliveries.
- Show respect and courtesy for customers’ homes and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution.
- Install products efficiently, demonstrating how they work once installed.
- Stay updated on new products and technologies to perform your role effectively.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform heavy lifting, including delivery of sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses.
Essential Skills & Experience
- UK B‑Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
- Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in installation and customer delivery driving.
