As a Driver Trainee Installer, you will be supported through our 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer with a C1 driving licence. You will drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes and, once fully trained, bring our distinctive John Lewis service to customers’ homes, installing products such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems, and TV sets as part of a two‑person delivery crew.

In addition to your contractual pay, you will receive an Evening Premium of £2.75 per hour for hours worked between 18:00‑22:00 and a Night Premium of £3.75 per hour for hours worked between 22:00‑06:00. These premiums apply to existing partners on Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

You must be 18 years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete the 3‑month Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme to become a fully qualified installer by meeting the relevant criteria.
  • Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service as your number one priority.
  • Assist in loading your vehicle with daily deliveries while collaborating with the warehouse team.
  • Show great respect and courtesy for customers’ homes and handle unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
  • Install products efficiently and quickly, demonstrating how they work once installed.
  • Keep up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role at your best.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.

Note: This role involves heavy lifting and you will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential Skills / Experience
  • UK B‑Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Great verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation.
Desirable Skills / Experience
  • Previous experience in installation and customer delivery driving.

Pay: £29,000.00 - £36,600.00 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: Full‑time, 41 hours per week over 5 days between 07:00 and 21:30, with some weekend work required.
