Overview

ABOUT THE ROLE: As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you\'ll bring the John Lewis service to customers\' doors and install products (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew, driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.

Time worked between 18:00–22:00 attracts an Evening Premium of £3.25 per hour; 22:00–06:00 attracts a Night Premium of £4.25 per hour.

Applicants must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Start at the delivery hub and plan routes, delivering on schedule.
  • Be an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service.
  • Load the day\'s deliveries with the warehouse team.
  • Respect customers\' homes and handle unexpected situations to solve problems for customers.
  • Install products efficiently and demonstrate operation after installation.
  • Stay up to date with new products and technologies to perform at your best.
  • Maintain a safe working environment. Note: role involves heavy lifting and delivering large items (e. g., sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, mattresses).

Essential skills / experience

  • Previous installation experience; support provided through our installer accreditation.
  • Manual C1 UK driving licence (maximum 6 points).
  • DCPC or Driver Qualification Card by day one.
  • Tachograph Card.
  • Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills (phone and in person).
  • Good understanding of technology.

Desirable skills / experience

  • Installation and disconnection of white goods.
  • TV installation.
  • Assembly of flat-pack furniture.

  • Hours: 41 hours per week, 4 days on a 5-week rota: Monday to Saturday 06:00–17:00.
