About the role
As a Product Owner, you will own, evolve and deliver the core capabilities and experiences that enable sustainable growth of our marketable customer base. You will ensure customers have clear, transparent and intuitive control over how their data is used, while enabling the business to access high-quality, consented marketing data at scale. This role is working with our brands John Lewis, John Lewis Money and Waitrose to ensure we capture consent at every opportunity across all the brands.
We are hiring for 2 roles one within our Marketing Permissions team and the other within the Loyalty & Retention Platform teams.
Expected salary: The expected salary for this role is up to £60,000.
Contract type: This position is a Permanent contract.
Working pattern/flexible working: The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business.
Location: This role is based at our London Head Office campus in Pimlico.

Key responsibilities
- Product ownership & delivery: Own and manage a well-prioritised, transparent and outcome-focused product backlog, working closely with the Product Manager to ensure alignment to strategic objectives and measurable value. Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to define clear functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring shared understanding and high-quality delivery. Support the creation and ongoing refinement of the product roadmap, ensuring it reflects platform strategy, dependencies and evolving business needs.
- Platform & capability development: Develop a deep understanding of the platform capabilities within your ownership area, balancing technical sustainability with customer and business outcomes. Work across key Data domains and understand the impact changes made in this area impact other domains such as loyalty. Translate propositions and ambitions from customer-facing Product Managers and proposition teams into clear backlog items and delivery plans.
- Collaboration & stakeholder engagement: Act as a trusted partner to customer-facing Product Managers, proposition teams, legal, technology and other platform teams, helping to shape and enable a strong marketing permissions experience across the Partnership. Communicate complex technical or delivery trade-offs in clear, stakeholder-friendly language. Contribute to cross-team planning, alignment and continuous improvement of ways of working.
- Innovation & continuous improvement: Stay informed about emerging technologies and third-party supplier capabilities relevant to driving the performance of a marketing base both from a capture and engagement point of view. Use insight from suppliers, partners and internal teams to support ideation and continuous improvement across the loyalty, marketing and permissions ecosystem.
Essential skills/experience you'll need:
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to take fresh perspectives on complex technical and customer challenges.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing demands.
- Comfortable working with technical detail and using it to inform prioritisation and decision-making.
- A collaborative team player who works effectively with engineering, delivery and operational teams.
Desirable skills/experience you may have:
- Experience working in Agile environments (e.g. Scrum or Kanban).
- Experience defining and delivering Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
- Familiarity with experimentation techniques such as A/B testing and using data to inform decisions.
- Experience working on platform, enablement or shared capability teams.
