About the role
The critical purpose of the Value Manager role is to lead the definition of a dynamic Pricing & Promotion Strategy and Framework which in turn delivers optimum pricing for all lines in the assortment influencing £7bn+ in sales.The successful candidate will create promotional framework at Commercial and Category level based on the Customer Strategy aligned to the category direction influencing £2bn+ margin, be responsible for the delivery and analysis of data to drive decision making within team and beyond to a best-in-class standard including pro-active recommendations to customer and category teams, and set promotion mechanics by Category – feeding into Category Strategy.We’re looking for someone to build and embed principles and guardrails aligned to the Value strategy, own the day-to-day relationships with our data providers ensuring data quality is accurate and service level agreements are met or exceeded and own and develop the right tools for the Commercial teams to support their decision making.The successful candidate will be an inspiring senior leader with experience in food pricing/value.

Key responsibilities:

Lead and implement our Waitrose Value strategy

Lead the Strategic direction of Value analysis and analytics, ensuring the quality of insight and analysis meets stakeholders’ requirements best-in-class standard

Delivery and Analysis of data to support decision making within the team and beyond

Proactively bring advice, insight, support and challenge to the table in order to actively contribute to the shaping of Value & Trade Planning strategy including pro-active recommendations to the Head of Trade Planning & Value

Analysis of overall performance of promotions per category (12-24 month period)

Lever analysis to support category strategy

Proactively identify ad hoc analysis required from team to support decision making

Monitor price vs. competitors

Creation and distribution of value reports across Waitrose

Proactively identify incremental opportunities across value levers
-
Actively influence and manage relationships with a variety of senior stakeholders to enable the successful delivery of Value activities and projects. Influence can be drawn from a variety of sources including data and insights, using your EQ, business benefits etc.

Provides regular insight and recommendations to the Director of Commercial Optimisation, Head of Value & Trade Planning and Commercial Leadership Team

Owns the day-to-day relationships with our third party Data providers ensuring data quality

Provides support and challenge to the Heads of Category Proposition Group on promotional performance, driving continuous improvement in promotional performance

Works with Customer and the category teams to develop the pricing and promotions framework to deliver the commercial strategy

Lead on Value and Trade Planning analysis
