About the role As an LGV1 Driver, you\’ll keep our retail operation flowing by ensuring our stock is in the right place at the right time for our customers. Based out of one of our national or regional distribution centres, you\’ll be transporting goods right across our supply chain network and shops in one of our LGV articulated vehicles.
You\’ll be representing the John Lewis Partnership brand, demonstrating courteous, professional, safe and economical driving standards at all times.
Due to its nature, you need to be 18‑years or older to work in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning out your delivery journey, ensuring efficiency to support the smooth running of our supply chain operation.
- Supporting the safe loading and unloading of your trailer.
- Carrying out a full set of safety checks on your lorry.
- Maintaining a full knowledge of the Highway code, WTD, EU Drivers Hours Regulations, the Partnership\’s Transport Partners handbook and the driver\’s training pack and adhere to them.
- Finding solutions to unexpected situations on the day and keeping the transport office up to date with your journey, communicating any problems and delays that might occur.
- Reporting any vehicle issues appropriately.
- Completing supplier and Partnership documentation accurately.
Essential skills/experience you\’ll need
- A valid Manual UK LGV1 C + E driving licence (with a maximum of 6 points).
- A valid Driver Qualification Card (with up to date training) and a valid Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience driving LGV (articulated vehicles).
Desirable skills/experience you may have
Good local/national geographical knowledge.
