About the role
Job RequirementsWe are looking for a Hospitality Assistant to join our team at the John Lewis Partnership. A key part of this role will be working in a busy Catering team to deliver and maintain high standards of all aspects of catering: service, presentation, operation and food hygiene. The successful candidate will openly demonstrate a passion for food service and is motivated to deliver sales and cost targets.

Hours: 7:00am-15:00pm 5 days a week. Monday to Friday. You will be based in Taylor House and West Warehouse
Key ResponsibilitiesIncluding but not limited to

Take delivery of food stock and distribute as and where required.

Heavy lifting and carrying of food products and ingredients in a safe manner.

Stock rotation and storage management.

Clear waste as appropriate, with consideration for H&S and environmental impacts.

Assist in the basic preparation of food products.

Managing the emptying of bins, waste and recycling in the kitchen.

Collecting and washing pots, pans and utensils.

Helping Chef’s keep areas clean and organised.

Provide a great level of service and consistently promote products to customers.

To be a brand ambassador by being a warm and friendly Partner who provides a consistently outstanding customer experience that is unrivalled in the marketplace.

Monitor and reduce wastage through correct ordering and record keeping.

Ensure all counters and coffee stations are replenished and presented consistently and in line with agreed standards.

To resolve customer queries or complaints at the first point of contact.

Full compliance with John Lewis Partnership Catering policies and legislation.

Full compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.

Carry out due diligence tasks and keep accurate due diligence checks and records.

Ensure the vending operation delivers outstanding service to meet Partners needs.

Ensure that fresh food, snack and hot beverage machines across the site are replenished and in a good working order.

Ensure food safety requirements are maintained.
Essential skills/experience you’ll need

Food Safety Level 2 (or happy to undertake training)

Operational experience in PDRs (Partner Dining Rooms) / canteens or hospitality
Experience which demonstrates using your own initiative.
