As a Driver Technician Trainee 7.5t, you will complete a 3‑month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. The role includes driving, loading deliveries, delivering large items, installing products, and providing customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an ambassador for the John Lewis brand, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and assist with loading deliveries, coordinating with the warehouse team.
  • Follow proper etiquette at customer homes and resolve unforeseen situations in a customer‑focused manner.
  • Install a variety of products such as wall‑mounted TVs, integrated appliances, and hard‑wired appliance installations.
  • Keep up to date with new products and technologies relevant to the role.
  • Adhere to all legal driving regulations, working time directive, and EU regulations for a safe working environment.
  • Complete the 90‑day trainee programme with commitment and performance.
  • State heavy lifting: deliver large items including sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Required Qualifications

  • UK B‑Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Previous experience in a customer‑facing role.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
  • Good understanding of technology and an interest in installation work.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience in installation and customer delivery services.
  • Previous role model or team leader experience.

Location

Avonmouth (Customer Delivery Hub), Packgate Road, Gloucestershire, BS11 0FD. This will be your base, whether in a shop, distribution centre or a head office.

Additional Information

The successful learner will receive evening and night premiums for working outside regular hours: 18:00-22:00 – 2.75 per hour; 22:00-06:00 – 3.75 per hour. Benefits include partner discounts, leisure learning grants, clubs & societies, holiday, pension, and life assurance. The role requires applicants to be 18 or over by the start date.
