About the role

As a Technician Specialist, you aren't just a driver—you’re an ambassador, an expert installer, and a mentor. You’ll be the person bringing the latest tech and beautiful furniture to life, ensuring our customers get the premium experience they expect, as part of a 2-person delivery crew driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Premium Installation: Expertly installing furniture, white goods, and home cinema systems.
  • Customer Ambassadorship: Acting as the face of John Lewis, treating every home with the utmost respect.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Coaching your partner on the best installation techniques and customer service flourishes.
  • Problem Solving: Handling the "unexpected" with a calm, professional attitude to ensure every delivery is a success.

A Note on the Physicality: This is a hands‑on, high‑energy role. You’ll be handling heavy, high‑value items like sofas, mattresses, and appliances.

Essentials skills required

  • Licensing: A valid Manual C1 UK driving licence (max 6 points).
  • Qualifications: Valid DCPC and Tachograph Card (must be held by your start date).
  • Experience: Proven history of driving 7.5‑tonne vehicles and a background in home installations.
  • Communication: A friendly, professional manner—both in person and over the phone.
  • Tech‑Savvy: You’re comfortable with modern tech and eager to learn about new products.

Desirable skills

  • Experience with integrated appliances or electrical disconnections.
  • Skills in TV wall mounting or flat‑pack assembly.
