About the role
As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll bring the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and partner‑led service right to customers’ doors, while contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop. When you’re not driving, you’ll support the team with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping.
Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role.
Key responsibilities
You’ll typically start your day in store and will be responsible for:
Checking your delivery routes for the day.
Loading and preparing your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
Ensuring all vehicle safety checks are complete, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
Being an ambassador for the Waitrose brand on the road, prioritising great customer service.
Helping customers with their shopping and building a rapport based on trust and service.
Supporting the wider shop team when required with general shop‑keeping tasks.
Essential skills / experience
Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
Great customer service skills.
Time management skills.
Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting crates, moving cages).
Comfortable working independently with the ability to be self‑motivated and adaptable.
IT literate.
Desirable skills / experience
Previous experience in a driving role and knowledge of chilled vehicle handling would be welcomed.
Varied hours of part‑time work (20 hours) across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends between 06:00 and 22:00.
