About the role

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll bring the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner‑led service right to our customers’ doors. You act as an ambassador for the Waitrose brand, delivering excellent customer service. When you’re not on the road, you’ll return to the shop to help with stock replenishment, housekeeping and other tasks to keep the shop running efficiently and welcomingly.

Age requirement: You must be 18 years or older.

Key Responsibilities

You typically start your day in the store, preparing for the day and handling deliveries.

  • Check delivery routes for the day.
  • Load and prepare the van for deliveries, ensuring orders are efficiently organised.
  • Complete all vehicle safety checks and maintain road compliance, health and safety standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service while on the road and represent the Waitrose brand.
  • Help customers with their shopping and build rapport based on trust and service.
  • Support the shop team with general shopkeeping tasks when required.

Essential skills/experience

  • Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to cope with physical requirements of the role (e.g., lifting crates, moving cages).
  • Comfortable working independently with self‑motivation and adaptability.
  • IT literate.

Desirable skills/experience

  • Previous driving role experience and knowledge of chilled vehicles.

Part‑time role: 14 hours per week across seven days, including evening and weekend shifts.

Pre‑employment vetting

Some roles are subject to pre‑employment vetting, which may include DBS checks and financial probity checks.
