About the role

As a Partner on our service counters, you\’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and passion for food while feeling proud of its ethical sourcing and recommending recipes to customers. You\’ll actively bring our ethos – passionate Partners serving food lovers – to life.

Using your enthusiasm and friendliness, you\’ll build lasting relationships with customers, making a positive impression of the Waitrose brand and encouraging repeat visits through trust and loyalty. Additionally, you\’ll help maximize sales and profit.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Take responsibility for your food counter, ensuring high presentation and hygiene standards.
  2. Manage stock levels to ensure popular products are available.
  3. Handle open food carefully, following all health & safety protocols, and help reduce food wastage.
  4. Maintain knowledge of new products and understand Waitrose\’s food values, such as animal welfare.
  5. Support the wider shop team with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience

  • Effective communication skills to work well with team members and customers.

Desirable skills/experience

  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience in catering or hospitality.
  • Knowledge of food and drink trends and a strong interest in them.
  • Flexible approach to support the entire branch.
