ABOUT THE ROLE

The John Lewis Partnership is a unique business, built on democratic principles and a commitment to our Partners and customers. Our Property and Facilities teams are the backbone of our physical environment, ensuring that our Head Office locations are safe, efficient, and inspiring places to work.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and service-oriented Facilities Assistant to join our Building Operations team at our Waitrose Head Office in Bracknell. This is a diverse and active role where you will be at the heart of our Head Office campus, delivering essential building management processes. From managing campus logistics and mail services to ensuring our meeting rooms are operationally ready, you will provide first-line support that keeps the business moving. As a champion of health and safety and a "brand champion" for our workspaces, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards our Partners and visitors expect.

In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £3.50 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building Operations: Delivering day-to-day facilities services, including internal and external logistics, to maintain a safe and outstanding working environment for Partners, visitors and contractors.
  • Customer & Campus Support: Providing 1st line support for meeting rooms and collaborative work settings, ensuring they are operationally ready. This includes furniture setups, helpdesk response, and sample management.
  • Logistics & Mailroom: Sorting and delivering mail and parcels across the campus, arranging couriers, and utilising mail logistics systems to meet strict KPIs and SLAs.
  • Health & Safety: Implementing Fire Safety and H&S processes, including acting as an assistant to the Chief Evacuation Marshal during evacuations and conducting regular building compliance inspections.
  • Communication: Maintaining engaging and up-to-date communications across the Intranet and physical notice boards, ensuring all information is legally compliant and contemporary.
  • Stock & Inventory Management: Keeping stockrooms organised and tidy, assisting with stationery and inventory checks to support business benefits.
  • Collaborative Working: Promote good communication between Partners and 3rd Party Suppliers and establish flexibility throughout the Facilities team to assist in other areas of the department when required as directed by the Facilities Manager.

Essential Skills/Experience You’ll Need

  • Facilities Knowledge: A basic understanding of workplace management processes, including health and safety and compliance requirements.
  • Customer Centricity: A passion for putting internal and external customers at the heart of everything you do to deliver a differentiated service.
  • Organisational Skills: The ability to plan and deliver excellence across multiple tasks, from mail sorting to complex room setups.
  • Communication & Active Listening: Excellent interpersonal skills to build sustainable relationships with stakeholders and truly understand Partner needs.
  • Agile Learning: A personal responsibility for growth, with the ability to learn from experience and adapt to ever-changing campus demands.
  • Good IT skills: Proficient with Google suite and reading and writing emails.
  • Education: A good basic education (GCSE level).
  • Full UK driving license required.

Desirable Skills/Experience You May Have

  • Experience: Previous experience in a service delivery or facilities management environment.
  • Education: A-Levels or equivalent qualifications.
  • Technical Familiarity: Experience using service request systems (e.g., ServiceNow) or mail tracking software.
