Job Details
- Contract type – Secondment/Fixed Term contract until 1 Feb 2027.
- Working pattern – Hybrid; three in‑person days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) with flexibility to work from home.
- Location – London Head Office campus in Pimlico.
- Travel to the office is the employee’s responsibility; no travel allowance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver product design that forms a coherent category assortment aligned to brand/sub‑brand guidelines and serves our customers.
- Produce commercial and innovative design solutions to briefs, developing product design concepts to ensure a unique customer offer.
- Research, prepare, and present relevant category trends, using analytical skills to keep abreast of customer requirements, market trends, and product advancements.
- Ensure the sampling process is efficient for your sub‑category; produce precise design packs, fulfil delegated seasonal design briefs, and maintain comprehensive records of design projects.
- Take ownership of design, product development and sampling for designated ranges/projects, collaborating with stakeholders and supporting design leads.
- Apply proficiency in design software (Adobe Suite, CAD, AI, Clo3D) to create digital sketches and designs.
- Manage tasks for Design Assistants to achieve business outcomes with the customer voice at the centre.
- Travel within the EU and internationally may be required to develop products.
- Support cross‑department collaboration through effective stakeholder relationships.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Demonstrate a continuous‑improvement mindset, thinking boldly to generate workable options and overcome barriers.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Proven experience as a Print Designer.
- Ability to translate design concepts into production‑ready sketches and technical specifications using technology (Adobe, Clo3D, AI).
- Strong awareness of current fashion trends and a passion for fashion, plus willingness to research and learn about trends.
- Experience preparing design presentations and technical packages.
- Good knowledge of pattern making, sewing, garment construction or other relevant technical experience; understanding of textiles and materials.
- Strong portfolio showcasing fashion design skills within print.
- Understanding of the JL&P brand, sub‑brand values and ability to design for commercial outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Design experience in the retail industry.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- BA degree in Design (product, fashion, furniture, textiles, surface pattern, decorative arts).
- Specific sub‑category design experience (e.g. Knit, Jeans) and a demonstrable portfolio.
