We offer between one and two training contracts each year and welcome applications from internal and external candidates, offering graduate and non-graduate opportunities. We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate their skills and experience, commercial awareness, a good understanding of John Hodge Solicitors as a firm, good connections to Somerset and Bristol, and a desire to complete a training contract and develop a rewarding career with us.
We aim to retain all trainees once they qualify and support them with their future career progression. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and the start date of any successful candidate will depend upon our business needs and the needs of the successful applicant regarding their exam dates.
We aim to offer each trainee three to four seats in a mixture of contentious and non-contentious areas of law, depending upon our business needs. During these seats, trainees will have full access to their supervisor, who will be an experienced Partner or Associate, assisting and guiding the trainee in their day-to-day tasks while also reviewing their performance.
We offer our trainees the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) route to qualification through an apprenticeship scheme, which offers much more flexibility and removes some of the previously existing barriers to qualification, alongside the traditional training contract route for those who commenced the route to qualification before 01 September 2021. We will fund the Professional Skills Course for trainees who have completed the LPC.
If you are successful in securing a training contract with us, you will be an integral part of John Hodge Solicitors and will receive an excellent standard of training within each seat. You will have a high level of responsibility from the start and will have the opportunity to be involved in business development opportunities to assist in the growth of the firm and to develop your skillset. You will be provided with experienced support as we recognise that trainees are a vital part of our future.
