We seek a Principal or Senior Structural Engineer to join our friendly team based in Ivybridge, Devon, working on a diverse range of exciting and challenging Structural Design and Inspection projects across the beautiful Southwest region.
The Role:
- The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical and professional leadership as well as supporting others in the delivery of a range of structural engineering design works including:
- Designing and detailing of structures including reinforced concrete and steel frames, masonry structures, timber design, retaining walls and basements, structural alterations and refurbishment work
- Assessing existing structures for condition, suitability and potential adaptation or reuse
- Interpreting architectural and M&E layouts to develop coordinated structural designs
- Preparing and checking a wide range of technical reports including structural assessments, design reports and structural condition surveys
- Ensuring projects are designed in compliance with current codes and regulations including Eurocodes and British Standards
- Promoting a culture of health & safety and ensuring all works comply with current H&S requirements and industry best practice
- Producing and assisting with the preparation of fee proposals and tender documentation
- Collaborating with internal teams across civil and geotechnical departments to deliver integrated, cross-discipline projects
- Attending site visits to commercial, residential and public sector properties for inspections, surveys, site meetings and monitoring construction works
- Engaging with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to deliver projects to suit client requirements
About You:
- Educated to degree level (MEng / BEng / BSc) in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree
- Preferably have chartered status with an accredited body (not essential where candidates exhibit sufficient experience)
- Have a minimum 4 -5 years of relevant experience in a structural design environment (less experience may be considered for the right candidate)
- Proficient in the use of design software such as AutoCad, Revit and Masterseries
- Be capable of working individually or as part of a wider team as lead engineer or assisting others
- Be conscientious with high standards, attention to detail and good written and oral communication skills
- Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite
- Keep up with industry innovations, undertake CPD to maintain a good knowledge of current construction & engineering practice
- Have a full driving licence
- Beneficial but not essential: Hold a current CSCS card
