We seek a Principal or Senior Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our friendly team based in Ivybridge, Devon, working on a diverse range of exciting and complex Geotechnical and Contaminated Land projects across the beautiful Southwest region.
The Role:
- Technical leadership, project delivery, and supporting junior team members in geotechnical and environmental services.
- Planning, procuring, and managing ground investigations, including trial pits, boreholes, windowless sampling and in-situ testing.
- Design and interpretation of geotechnical investigations to support structural and civil design.
- Logging to BS5930 and sampling of soils, rocks, and groundwater.
- Design and interpretation of contaminated land assessments and investigations, (Phase I to Phase IV) in line with current regulations and best practice.
- Development of conceptual site models and quantitative risk assessments.
- Environmental services including Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), Materials Management Plans (MMPs), Earthworks specifications and waste classification/management.
- Ground gas and groundwater monitoring and interpretation.
- Preparing and reviewing high-quality technical reports.
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with current H&S / CDM regulations and environmental permitting requirements.
- Liaising with clients, regulators, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Supporting cross-disciplinary collaboration with civil and structural teams on integrated schemes.
About You:
- Educated to degree level in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Preferably have chartered status with an accredited body (not essential where candidates exhibit sufficient experience).
- Minimum 3-5 years' relevant experience in a Geotechnical or Geo-environmental environment (less experience may be considered for the right candidate).
- Demonstrable experience managing site works and technical reporting.
- Strong knowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and environmental legislation.
- Capable of working individually or as part of a wider team as lead engineer or assisting others.
- Conscientious with high standards, attention to detail and good written and oral communication skills.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Keep up with industry innovations, undertake CPD to maintain a good knowledge of current construction & engineering practice.
- Full driving licence.
- Beneficial but not essential: Working knowledge of Holebase, AutoCAD, and GIS mapping software (QGIS or Arc GIS). Hold a current CSCS card.
