Role Description
The successful applicant will be responsible for technical delivery, project delivery and supporting junior team members in the delivery of a broad range of infrastructure and civil engineering services, including:
- Design and detailing of civil engineering works, including surface water and foul drainage systems, highways, earthworks, external works and reinforced concrete infrastructure elements
- Preparation of drainage strategies, flood risk documentation, SuDS solutions and SAB approval submissions
- Preparation and coordination of Section 104, 106 and 278 agreement packages and associated approvals
- Design and coordination of highways, access roads, pavements and hardstanding areas
- Site level design, cut and fill analysis and earthworks coordination
- Design of reinforced concrete foundations and retaining structures
- Preparation and review of engineering drawings, technical specifications and reports
- Working within BIM/CDE environments and maintaining coordinated project information
- Liaising with statutory authorities, utility providers and approval bodies
- Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with current design standards, H&S/CDM requirements and industry best practice
- Producing and assisting with fee proposals and tender documentation
- Attending site visits, inspections, construction monitoring visits and project meetings
- Liaising with clients, contractors, architects, local authorities and other stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes
- Supporting cross-disciplinary collaboration with our structural and geotechnical teams on integrated engineering projects
Whilst experience across all of the above areas would be advantageous, we would also welcome applications from candidates with particular strengths in specific areas of infrastructure engineering who are looking to broaden their experience within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Incorporated or Chartered status with an accredited professional body would be advantageous, although this is not essential for candidates with suitable experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience within an Infrastructure or Civil Engineering design environment, although less experience may be considered for the right candidate
- Experience in drainage, highways and general infrastructure design
- Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow or similar software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team, either leading projects or supporting others
- Conscientious approach with high standards, strong attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- Commitment to keeping up to date with industry innovations and undertaking CPD to maintain a strong knowledge of current construction and engineering practice
- Full UK driving licence required

Salary
- Principal Engineer: circa £50,000+ depending on experience
- Senior Engineer: £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
Hours
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Part-time applications will also be considered.
Contract
Permanent position with an initial six-month probation period.
