Full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Based Hessle, East Yorkshire with one day from home. Flexibility for monthly travel to Tunbridge Wells and Central London offices, travel covered by the business.

The Good Travel Collective is looking for an experienced HR Operations Manager to be a pivotal part of our Travel Division, continuing to build the strong operational foundations that help our people, managers and teams to do their best work and deliver our ambitious growth plans.

You’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of our HR Operations, making sure our processes, systems and data are efficient, compliant and genuinely easy to use.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Leading a high-quality People operations service across the full employee lifecycle, onboarding, HRIS administration, payroll coordination, offboarding and day to day HR enquiries.
  • Managing, coaching and developing a Junior People Advisor, setting clear standards and creating a responsive, first-time right service for managers and colleagues.
  • Owning and improving core people process and templates for the Travel Division, ensuring they are clear, compliant and simple to follow.
  • Overseeing employee relations casework (including more complex cases where needed), ensuring fair, timely and consistent outcomes in line with employment law and company policy.
  • Using insight from absence, turnover and engagement data to highlight trends, reduce risk and support better practices across the division.
  • Driving continuous improvement, simplifying workflows, removing duplication, and championing the thoughtful use of technology, automation and AI enabled tools to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Co-ordinating reward and benefits activity for the Travel Division, including supporting salary banding development, benchmarking and cyclical processes.
  • Supporting engagement and culture initiatives, including surveys, action planning and the co-ordination of learning and development activity.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is confident in the operational details but commercially minded and ambitious enough to grow with us.

  • Significant generalist human resources experience in a HR Manager role, for a multi-site or multi business unit environment ideally in a small team or standalone set-up (experience gained in travel, hospitality or retail related sectors is a bonus) with a headcount of c.130.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR Best practice, with a track record of supporting complex ER cases.
  • Proven experience of owning HR processes and systems, maintain high data integrity and turning people data into clear, actionable insight for senior leaders.
  • Previous experience managing or coaching HR advisors / administrators with a practical, supportive leadership style
  • A continuous improvement mindset, comfortable mapping processes, spotting inefficiencies and implementing pragmatic changes that make life easier for managers and colleagues.
  • Confidence working with digital tools, automation and AI enabled solutions to improve HR service delivery and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build trust quickly and work collaboratively with managers and colleagues across the business.
