As part of our ongoing growth, we are looking to recruit an Estimating Assistant / Trainee Mechanical Estimator to join our pre-construction team.

The Opportunity:

This is a great opportunity for an Estimating Assistant / Trainee Mechanical Estimator looking to start or progress their career at an entry level in the mechanical services sector. You will work alongside experienced estimators and project engineers, supporting the preparation of competitive and accurate mechanical tenders and cost plans. If you have been an active engineer and are looking for a change of setting within an office environment, this may be the role for you. Mechanical knowledge is preferred but not essential, as mentoring will be provided by our senior estimating team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of mechanical estimates for a variety of projects
  • Take off quantities from drawings and specifications
  • Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes
  • Support the preparation of tender documentation and cost breakdowns
  • Tracking estimating and logging estimating correspondence
  • Liaise with engineers and project teams to ensure technical accuracy
  • Maintain estimating databases and pricing tools

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in mechanical building services and estimating
  • Good numeracy and IT skills
  • Keen attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schedules and specifications
  • Prior exposure to estimating or construction would be advantageous
