Our Field Service Engineers provide professional engineering services on-site with our customers. In this role, you will ensure our assets are maintained to the highest standards, commission Flybrid, Hybrid, and Sync packages, and deliver on our promises to our customers while meeting the core needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Service: Carry out planned servicing and maintenance of company equipment, as well as repairing and maintaining machinery per company and manufacturer requirements.
- Diagnostics & Repair: Accurately fault find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues, identifying required specialist equipment and connectors.
- Testing & Setup: Utilise proper testing equipment for effective repair and maintenance, ensuring all equipment is set up according to Contract Customer's Specifications.
- Fleet Modification: Modify the generator fleet where required, following direct instruction from the Technical Manager.
- Breakdown Support: Attend equipment breakdowns as necessary to support and deliver excellent customer service levels.
- Flexibility & Teamwork: Actively participate in the on-call Rota system and work overtime (sometimes at short notice) to support the business.
- Continuous Development: Support the development of high-performance teams by attending planned training and positively engaging with the training provider.
- Compliance: Adhere to the John F Hunt Integrated Management Systems, including Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, and all associated policies.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Complete any other technical-related services or ad hoc duties as required by the business.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Technical Background: Proven experience in mechanical/electrical engineering or diesel fitting.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep Sea knowledge and/or synchronising experience is highly desirable.
- Technical Familiarity: Comfortable working with electronic systems and mechanical components, including engines and alternators.
- Autonomy & Organisation: Highly organised self-starter with the ability to work autonomously, prioritise a variety of daily tasks, and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Communication & Discretion: Excellent communication skills with a confident, friendly, and professional manner; able to handle tasks with full confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Customer Focus: A strong customer-centric mindset with a focus on delivering excellent service.
- Teamwork: Experience working effectively within a team environment as well as on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
- IT Literacy: Good IT skills.
