We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer working within the Test Equipment team reporting to the Test Equipment Design Engineer Lead. As a Design Engineer – Test Equipment you will be responsible for designing test equipment for John Crane’s high end gas seals technology whilst liaising with our international service centres.

This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours.

To design, using CAD, and maintain technical drawings and data for testing equipment used on both John Crane Gas and Wet seals.

  • To ensure designs are to correct standards regarding safety and design practices.
  • To manage the movement of test equipment between John Crane Service centres and storage within the Slough site.
  • Support suppliers that use tooling designed or originally used by John Crane.
  • Obtain quotes and off load work that cannot be manufactured in house to correct sub-contractor.
  • Load parts that can be made into Slough machine shop.

Studies in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Previous experience in a design engineering role, with good experience of 2D & 3D CAD.

Good knowledge of MS Office (incl. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); some knowledge of creating / updating / maintaining databases.

Experience / knowledge of rotating equipment and high-pressure test equipment – an asset.
