Our PLF International business designs flexible, gentle, user-friendly powder filling machines for rigid and semi-rigid containers. We are excited to recruit for a Controls Engineer who will implement and support our powder filling lines. When not travelling you will be based on our site in Ardleigh near Colchester, Essex and your role will report into our Lead Controls Engineer.

On a given day, you may:

  • Support multiple projects at once using your programming skills including PLC, HMI, networking and MES.
  • Be the go-to person for specialist information/knowledge of controls and electronic synchronised drive systems and motion technology such as servo drives, kinetix & virtual axis.
  • Lead on design and implementation on automation for projects and machinery.
  • Collaborate with teams such as sales, engineering and R&D.
  • Occasionally lead projects and provide on-site guidance.
  • Be responsible for design, testing and manufacturing costs on projects.

Requirements for the role:

  • Knowledge of motion control implementation and solutions required.
  • Siemens TIA portal and/or Step 7 (we can teach you Rockwell/Allen Bradley if required).
  • Experience working with User Requirement Specifications & Functional Design Specifications.
  • Generate internal Functional Design Specifications.
  • Comfortable with being very remote, travel is around 60% of the time. Communication with colleagues is daily but by video media rather than face-to-face.
