Vehicle Technician & MOT Tester

Full Time | Monday to Friday | 8.00am – 5.00pm
We are looking for a qualified Vehicle Technician who holds a current MOT Tester licence, to join our Honda dealership in Ipswich.
You do not need Honda experience. If you have worked in a franchised dealership or a good independent workshop and you are MOT qualified, we will give you the Honda training. What matters more to us is that you diagnose properly, finish the job to a standard you would be happy to sign your name to, and work well with the people around you.
This is a settled, well-run workshop in a family business that has been trading since 1974. Several of our technicians have been with us for more than fifteen years, which tells you more about the job than any advert can.
What you would be doing
- Honda servicing and routine maintenance
- MOT testing
- Diagnostics and fault finding
- Mechanical and electrical repair
- Warranty repair to Honda standards
- Brakes, steering and suspension
- Timing belts, clutches and engine work
- Vehicle health checks using digital reporting
- Preparation of Honda Approved Used vehicles
- Road testing where required
What you need
- Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- A current MOT Tester licence (Class 4)
- A full UK driving licence
- Franchised dealership or independent workshop experience
- Genuine interest in diagnostics and in getting to the root of a fault
Honda experience is welcome but not required — full manufacturer training is provided.
What we pay
- Basic salary , set by your qualifications and experience, and reviewed as you progress
- Monthly productivity bonus — Paid on every hour you sell above the hours you are paid to attend. The rate rises with your grade and with the level of productivity you achieve, so the better you are, the more each hour is worth
- Qualification payments — One-off payments as you complete EV and high-voltage training, ADAS competence and further Honda accreditations
- Overtime — Available and paid, not expected
- Pension — Company pension scheme
We will be straight with you about the bonus: it rewards work we can invoice, stand behind, and return safely to the customer. Quality is part of how it is paid, not an afterthought.
Where it leads
There is a defined route from Technician to Senior and Diagnostic Technician and on to Honda Master Technician, with the pay band moving at each step. Honda training is continuous, including hybrid and EV, and we pay for the qualifications that take you up the ladder.
