Your Role in the team: As part of Berenberg's expansion in electronic trading, the algorithmic trading team is looking for a delivery-focused engineer to develop trading engines, associated strategies and real-time trading desktops. This role contributes to both algo strategy design and the build-out of high-quality, real-time systems used for trading algo orders and liquidity seeking.
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-quality Java engines for trading algo orders and liquidity seeking.
- Develop algorithmic trading engines, associated strategies and supporting desktop tooling.
- Contribute to algo strategy design as well as the build-out of real-time trading engines.
- Build real-time trading desktops using technologies including React.
- Develop data analytics, storage and processing capabilities.
Qualifications
- A strong Java engineer who writes performant, well-designed real-time server code.
- Solid understanding of Equity market trading in Europe.
- Good problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
- A keen interest in understanding the wider systems that form part of the trading stack.
- Passion for continuous improvement and creativity.
- A pro-active, collaborative approach when working with other Berenberg Investment Banking engineering teams.
- Commitment to industry and Berenberg Investment Banking engineering best practices.
- Experience in the equity sell-side trading industry would be desirable.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker would be desirable.
- Experience with React and building real-time web pages would be desirable.
- A good understanding of the regulatory environment relevant to the role would be beneficial.
