Role: Procurement Buyer

Location: 43 Churchgate, Bolton BL1 1HU

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week.

Salary: £30,000-£38,000

As a Procurement Buyer you will provide analytical, reporting, and operational support to the procurement function, enabling data-driven decision making, effective supplier management, and compliant procurement processes. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality procurement insight, analysing spend and supplier performance data, supporting category management activities and strategies, tracking and validating procurement savings, and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency, supplier performance, and business value. The role also encompasses supplier management, delivering tender activities and building robust stakeholder relationships

Responsibilities of the Procurement Buyer:

  • Produce and maintain procurement dashboards, spend analyses, savings reports, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Support the tracking, validation, and reporting of procurement savings and value-add initiatives, ensuring benefits are accurately recorded and evidenced.
  • Monitor and report supplier performance against agreed KPIs, service levels, and contractual obligations, highlighting risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly supplier performance and procurement activity reports for key stakeholders.
  • Support category planning activities through data analysis, market intelligence, spend reviews, and supplier research.
  • Drive continuous improvement of procurement reporting through enhanced data quality, automation, and insight generation.
  • Support business-wide compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement data, contract registers, supplier records, and reporting tools.
  • Support sourcing and tender activities by preparing documentation, analysing supplier submissions and coordinating evaluations.
  • Develop sourcing recommendations and make supplier selection decisions alongside preparing business cases for stakeholder approval.
  • Liaise directly with suppliers to obtain quotations, product information, compliance documentation, and performance data.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking activities to build procurement strategies, supplier evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Support contract renewals and supplier re-tendering activities to ensure continuity of supply and value for money.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
