Keen to keep the wheels moving for our operational teams? We are looking to recruit a Vehicle and/or Plant Technician to join our team in our well-equipped workshop at our Head Office and Distribution Centre in Hedge End. We are looking for a fully qualified and experienced Vehicle and/or Plant Technician to join our business to deliver timely and efficient servicing, maintenance, and repairs to our fleet of mobile plant (mini-excavators, dump trucks, winches, drum trailers, etc) and tools (floor saws, trench rammers, mixers, etc) and/or vehicles, including LCV's, Cars and HGV's.

So, what is the detail?

  • Adopt a zero-compromise approach to Health & Safety aligned to legislation and company policy.
  • Ensure adequate risk assessments are completed in line with work being completed and surroundings.
  • Manage downtime through the effective management of parts stock.
  • Diagnose and identify cost effective solutions for minor to major mechanical repairs with consideration to asset age and hours/mileage.
  • Ensure the Workshop and Asset Manager is kept informed on extended repair times and repairs that require outsourcing.
  • Ensure assets are maintained in line with manufacturer guidelines and industry best practice, ensuring manufacturer warranty maintained.
  • Complete condition reports for all assets attending the workshop and report any avoidable maintenance, or poor operator behaviours identified.
  • Identify and report opportunities to support a predictive and preventative maintenance approach to vehicle and plant maintenance to deliver optimum plant and/or vehicle availability.

Qualification, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Construction Equipment Maintenance Mechanic (Level 2), or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a busy Workshop, or a mobile technician.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment, working to tight deadlines.
  • A solid working knowledge of Health & Safety in the motor industry.
  • Basic IT skills, familiar with the use of handheld devices.
  • Full valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Own Tools required.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working on Kubota, Bobcat, and/or Mercedes-Benz, Iveco products.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative and as part of a small team.
  • Enthusiastic, with a can-do approach to work.
  • Electrical and hydraulics knowledge.
