Our client is the UK's leading provider of lightning and surge protection services. They specialise in design, install and commission bespoke systems as well as providing testing and inspections, repairs, maintenance and upgrades. They also deliver specialist power earthing solutions to clients in all sectors. The other main area of expertise is electrical testing, encompassing fixed wire and portable appliance testing. Due to continued success, they are now recruiting for a Test & Inspect Electrician covering sites throughout Hampshire and the surrounding areas.
JOB PURPOSE
Our client are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Tester to join their team covering the Hampshire area. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) in various commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to identify and report on potential hazards and compliance issues.
JOB SPECIFICATION
- Conduct comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) in commercial and industrial environments.
- Inspect and test electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, switchgear, and control equipment.
- Identify and document defects, non-compliances, and potential safety hazards.
- Provide clear and concise reports detailing the condition of electrical installations, including recommendations for remedial actions.
- Ensure all inspections are carried out in accordance with relevant standards and regulations, including BS 7671 and IET Wiring Regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain findings, answer questions, and provide technical advice.
- Ensure all inspection tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated as required.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to maintain and enhance technical skills.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical inspection or a related field.
- City & Guilds 2391-52 (or equivalent) qualification in Inspection and Testing.
- NVQ Level 3 18th Edition.
- In-depth knowledge of BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations, and other relevant standards and codes.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using electrical testing equipment and software for reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid UK driving licence (or equivalent, depending on location).
