We are looking for a Refuse Driver to join Derby City Council's Street Cleansing Void Service. You will lead and support a dedicated team delivering essential property clearance, cleaning and waste management services for Derby Homes and other customers. Our Void Service helps bring empty properties back to a safe, clean and lettable standard through work including house and garden clearances, wallpaper stripping and property cleaning.

Location: Streetpride, Derby City Council Street Cleansing, Derby, DE24 8UZ

Hours: Monday Thursday 08:00-16:00, Friday 08:00-15:30

Pay Rate: £15.54 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate and supervise Void Operatives on site
  • Carry out property clearances, cleaning and waste management duties
  • Safely drive and operate HGV vehicles
  • Complete daily vehicle, equipment and safety inspections
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments and COSHH requirements
  • Monitor team performance and quality of completed work
  • Complete worksheets, inspection forms and operational records accurately
  • Report accidents, incidents, defects and unsafe working practices
  • Support the training and development of new employees
  • Assist with bulky waste collections and safe disposal of hazardous materials
  • Support Waste Transfer Station operations when required

About You:

  • Valid HGV driving licence
  • Experience supervising or leading an operational team
  • Experience in waste management, cleansing, property clearances or a similar environment
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality services

Training & Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence required, allowing the holder to drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle
