The role involves preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals for employees in the site canteen, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and cost control standards are consistently met. This position supports employee wellbeing and engagement by delivering a reliable and friendly catering service.
- Prepare and cook fresh meals in line with agreed menus and portion controls.
- Serve food during designated service times in a professional and friendly manner.
- Ensure food is presented to a high standard at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures.
- Minimise food waste and manage portion control effectively.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including COSHH and food hygiene standards.
- Support canteen setup, service planning, and improvements.
Previous experience as a chef, cook, or in a catering role is required, along with experience in a high-volume or industrial kitchen environment (desirable). A Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum) and relevant catering qualification (desirable) are also necessary. Candidates should have the ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations, with a flexible and reliable approach to working hours. Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards is essential. PPE and uniform will be provided where required.
