Responsibilities
- Provide clear technical leadership across clinical and operational systems.
- Build and lead a team of engineers and technical specialists.
- Translate clinical and operational needs into actionable delivery plans.
- Enable evidence-based decisions by articulating patient safety, clinical risk, information governance, security and operational impacts.
- Build strong relationships with clinicians, practice managers, operational service owners and technology teams, influencing decisions to protect continuity of care.
- Coach and develop your team to improve clinical systems capability, raising quality and reducing operational risk.
- Work in close partnership with Product Owners, constructively challenging intent and prioritisation to ensure solutions are technically sound, safe, and aligned to long term outcomes.
- Lead delivery and ongoing optimisation of clinically critical platforms and workflows (e.g., PAS, EMR, PACS and specialist systems), ensuring safe, reliable operation.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for clinical and operational delivery, coordinating technical SMEs, suppliers and service teams across projects of varying scope and complexity.
- Own end-to-end interoperability and integration delivery (design, mapping, testing, deployment and monitoring), including standards such as HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM, ICD-9/10 and SNOMED CT where applicable.
Requirements
- Comfortable working with clinical stakeholders and governance.
- Healthcare interoperability and integration engineering, including interface specifications, mapping, test evidence and monitoring for standards such as HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM, ICD9/10 and SNOMED CT where applicable.
- Product and Agile operating methods; experience leading delivery in healthcare/product environments where service continuity and governance are essential.
- Communicates clearly and pragmatically, tailoring messages to audience and context (delivery decisions, governance, operational impact) across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- People leadership experience: building capability, setting standards, and leading mixed teams in regulated/operationally sensitive environments.
- Experience leading within matrix environments with blended teams.
- Provides clear technical direction within the product team, making and owning architectural and design decisions aligned to organisational standards.
- Structured approach to problem solving and designing software solutions, backed by extensive experience delivering performant, scalable services end-to-end.
