Supermarket Assistant, Hospitality

• Take responsibility for the food counter and maintain high presentation and hygiene standards
• Monitor stock levels and ensure products are available when needed
• Handle open food safely and follow due diligence, health and safety protocols
• Help reduce food wastage
• Maintain knowledge of new products and Waitrose food values, including animal welfare
• Recommend recipes and demonstrate food knowledge to customers
• Build lasting customer relationships and earn trust and loyalty
• Help maximise sales and profit
• Support the wider shop team with general shopkeeping tasks when required

Requirements

• Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers
• Ability to work at the specified vacancy location and the advertised hours
• Ability to work flexibly across service counters, including handling raw meat and fish
• Customer-facing experience welcomed
• Catering or hospitality experience
• Up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends
• Flexible approach to support the whole branch
• Ability to work varied hours across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends
• Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment vetting, including DBS checks where required
