  • Lead the execution strategy across the National Grid portfolio
  • Build senior relationships with National Grid stakeholders and act as an escalation point
  • Drive portfolio governance and visibility of performance, risks, dependencies, resources and priorities
  • Align project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, commercial and other functional teams
  • Identify and remove systemic delivery barriers
  • Strengthen execution capability through best practices and improved project methodologies
  • Challenge and support project leadership teams on plans, assumptions, risks and recovery strategies
  • Develop portfolio-level approaches to engineering, construction, commissioning, suppliers, contractors and resource capacity
  • Enable capability reuse, knowledge sharing and improved management of common suppliers and delivery challenges
  • Promote continuous improvement using lessons learned and portfolio insight
  • Provide senior oversight of portfolio performance in a complex matrix organisation
  • Ensure delivery strategy and organisational capability meet customer expectations

Requirements

  • Significant leadership experience across complex energy, transmission, EPC or major infrastructure programmes
  • Experience leading portfolios, programmes or multiple major projects within a complex engineering or infrastructure environment
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage transmission, power infrastructure or comparable large-scale EPC projects
  • Experience across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning
  • Strong customer-facing leadership experience, including senior stakeholder relationships and complex project or programme escalations
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders without relying solely on direct line authority
  • Experience managing portfolio-level risks, dependencies, resource constraints and operational improvement opportunities
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding
  • Experience with major contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary delivery organisations
  • Familiarity with National Grid projects, standards, safety requirements or ways of working would be highly advantageous
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical, engineering or management discipline would be advantageous
  • Willingness to work from the Stafford office in the United Kingdom
