- Develop content and platform strategy to reach and grow social media audiences
- Research platform developments and trends
- Collaborate with colleagues at the offices of the Archbishops on content plans and campaigns
- Generate creative ideas for key campaigns and year-round content
- Plan, curate and schedule daily content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky and TikTok
- Liaise with content producers on platform-specific social-first content
- Liaise with influencers to provide content and develop partnerships
- Write clear, simple and concise copy for Church of England social media channels
- Work on social media campaigns supporting teams across the Church of England
- Advise colleagues on best practices for creating engaging content
- Provide digital support and create content at online and onsite events, including General Synod
- Coordinate and implement social media community management
- Monitor channels during working hours and handle comments, complaints and queries, escalating issues when needed
- Coordinate the out-of-hours social media rota
- Identify opportunities through horizon scanning, including campaigns, trends and awareness days
- Produce regular social media analytics and insights with the Social Media Manager
- Share findings with stakeholders and use them to inform future activity
- Monitor online activity on key topics
- Contribute to team project planning
- Participate in webinars and in-person training for church leaders, volunteers, NCI staff and diocesan staff
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required
Requirements
- Excellent writing, copy-editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent digital skills, including CMSs, social networks, evaluation and analytics tools such as Sprout Social
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organised and able to maintain organisation in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working as a social media officer or equivalent role for a large national organisation
- Experience running digital and social campaigns for large organisations
- Experience of social media community management
- Track record of taking projects, ideas and initiatives from concept through to delivery
- Awareness of social media trends and understanding of social media's role within digital marketing and communications
- Understanding of the values and beliefs of the Church of England and Christianity in general
- Experience growing high-profile social media channels and increasing reach and engagement
- Comfortable and confident promoting the Church of England and faith in Jesus Christ in the digital public square
- Desire to bring more people to faith in Jesus Christ and deepen people's faith
- Team player with a can-do attitude
- Able to occasionally travel within England
- May be required to assist with social media training of colleagues and stakeholders
- Resilient approach in the workplace (desirable)
- Genuine enthusiasm for innovation in social media and keeping up to date with trends and best practice (desirable)
