- Plan, manage and lead a portfolio of Public Health work aligned to the “Live Well and Age Well” adults life stages
- Apply expert and advanced public health knowledge to deliver complex public health programmes
- Influence policy and practice across a diverse and varied work area
- Guide and advise Council and NHS colleagues, elected members, partners and partnership boards in evidence-based decision making
- Participate in the Public Health Senior Management Team
- Lead efforts to continuously improve the capacity and capability of the Public Health service
- Line manage members of the Public Health team
- Lead and support the professional development of line-managed staff
- Advise, lead and performance manage the development of public health policies and services impacting the council and key stakeholders
Requirements
- Master's degree in Public Health, Health Policy or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Commitment to continued professional development
- Intention to work towards specialist UKPHR registration via the portfolio route
- Significant experience working autonomously to lead and deliver more than one programme of work simultaneously
- Substantial experience working at a senior level in public health
- Experience engaging and working with a broad range of stakeholders
- Experience applying public health specialist knowledge to complex public health programmes
- Passion for improving population health and wellbeing using evidence-based approaches
- Ability to build and work in partnership with stakeholders and communities across Havering
