- Support the design, implementation and delivery of high-quality quantitative social research projects to agreed timelines and quality standards
- Develop and check questionnaires, quantitative data collection instruments, interviewer briefings and other survey materials
- Support data collection activities and help ensure surveys are delivered smoothly and to a high standard
- Check and manage samples, monitor fieldwork progress and contribute to interviewer briefings
- Manage quantitative data in line with NatCen policies and procedures
- Carry out high-quality quantitative analysis with appropriate supervision
- Prepare reports, presentations and other materials for different audiences
- Take ownership of assigned activities, monitor progress, meet deadlines and raise risks or issues
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and communicate with clients, stakeholders and external partners
- Follow ethical, confidentiality, data protection, information security and data governance requirements
- Focus predominantly on longitudinal surveys within the Social Surveys Department
- Report to a Senior Researcher or above
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience
- At least one to two yearsβ experience of conducting surveys, analysing the resulting data and contributing to the delivery of high-quality research studies
- Sound understanding of survey research theory and practice
- Practical experience of delivering surveys and working across the research process
- Experience of questionnaire design, survey document development and supporting or managing fieldwork activity
- Strong quantitative research skills and experience of using quantitative analysis software
- Confidence working with data and numerical information
- Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills
- Proactive approach to problem-solving, task ownership and completion
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good project management and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and manage deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative working style
- Commitment to learning, professional development and continuous improvement
- A postgraduate qualification with significant social research or quantitative methods content, knowledge of a relevant public policy area, or experience in social or commercial market research would be advantageous
- Applicants will be asked to complete an online assessment evaluating numeracy and logical reasoning
- Must maintain ethical research practice, confidentiality, data protection, information security and data governance requirements
