Principal Network Engineer

• Provide hands-on technical expertise and serve as the final escalation point for complex network issues
• Contribute to ITV's long-term network technical strategy and architecture with the Principal Network Architect
• Lead evaluation, selection, and deployment of new networking technologies and services
• Develop, maintain, and enforce network technical standards, best practices, and documentation
• Champion NetDevOps adoption, automation, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and automated testing
• Design and implement network automation solutions to provision, configure, and monitor infrastructure at scale
• Integrate network operations with IT service management and monitoring tools through APIs
• Lead design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and secure network solutions
• Oversee complex network change projects with minimal disruption and compliance with security policies
• Provide guidance on network security best practices and compliance
• Define and track network platform KPIs and operational metrics
• Act as the primary technical interface for the Product Owner and translate business requirements into technical deliverables
• Shape the engineering backlog and roadmap
• Collaborate with the Principal Network Architect to execute the architectural vision
• Mentor and coach Network Engineers
• Work with Cloud, Compute, Security Operations, and other platform teams on end-to-end service delivery

Requirements

• Extensive, demonstrable experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting large-scale, enterprise-grade networks
• Mastery of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, L2/L3 switching, QoS, VXLAN, and EVPN
• Expertise in firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, VPN solutions, and DDoS mitigation
• Proven experience with enterprise-grade wireless technologies, including controller-based and cloud-managed systems
• Strong practical experience with NetDevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and continuous delivery
• Advanced proficiency in Ansible, Terraform, and scripting languages such as Python
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI and Jenkins
• Experience with API integration for network management and monitoring
• Proven ability to lead, influence, and drive technical change across engineering teams
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Desirable: experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud networking
• Desirable: relevant Cisco, Juniper, or AWS certifications
• Desirable: experience in the Media or Broadcast technology sector
• Desirable: familiarity with Nautobot, Netbox, Batfish, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Solarwinds
