  • Design, implement and maintain server, storage, virtualisation and cloud infrastructure
  • Administer Windows Server, Linux and Microsoft Azure services, including identity and access-management components
  • Manage VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter environments
  • Support DNS, DHCP, backup, disaster recovery and monitoring services
  • Manage server patching, upgrades, lifecycle replacement and capacity planning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents, problems and service requests
  • Maintain secure infrastructure configurations in line with cyber-security and audit requirements
  • Support hybrid-cloud connectivity and integration with OCI, Azure and other cloud services
  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, runbooks and operational procedures
  • Identify and deliver infrastructure automation, resilience and service-improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with Network Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Software Engineering teams
  • Support enterprise applications, scientific research and AI workloads

Requirements

  • Experience administering Microsoft infrastructure, including Windows Server and Azure resources
  • Experience deploying and managing virtualised environments using VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
  • Knowledge of server and storage hardware technologies
  • Strong understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls and VPN connectivity
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking and cloud services
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, patching and infrastructure lifecycle management
  • Experience with enterprise storage, SAN/NAS and backup solutions
  • Experience using scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash or Python
  • Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring, alerting and incident resolution
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills
  • Relevant technical certifications, such as Microsoft, VMware, Cisco or Oracle Cloud, are desirable
  • Experience with OCI, AWS or other public-cloud platforms is desirable
  • Experience using Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools is desirable
  • Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines is desirable
  • Knowledge of cyber security controls, vulnerability remediation and privileged access management is desirable
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or container platforms is desirable
  • Experience supporting hybrid-cloud environments and cloud migration projects is desirable
  • Right to work permanently in the UK
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
  • Living in, or within easy commuting distance of, Oxford, or willingness to relocate
  • Willingness to work longer hours during peak periods and across multiple time zones when required
