  • Provide proactive executive, administrative and Archdeaconry coordination support to the Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight
  • Coordinate parish-facing activity, meetings, visitations, clergy processes and local initiatives
  • Act as a key link between the Archdeacon, clergy, churchwardens, PCC officers, parish representatives, diocesan teams and external partners
  • Support communication across the Island and ensure enquiries, information and actions are followed through
  • Prepare agendas, papers, reports, briefing notes and meeting records
  • Maintain accurate records and support diocesan and Archdeaconry processes
  • Develop working relationships across the Island to support collaboration and resolution of queries
  • Support governance, visitations, licensing, collation, installation and other clergy and parish-related processes
  • Manage diaries, correspondence and appointments where required
  • Support strategic priorities, local initiatives and operational improvements
  • Help ensure effective day-to-day functioning of the Archdeaconry office
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen communication
  • Handle confidential, pastoral and sensitive matters in line with diocesan policies and safeguarding expectations

Requirements

  • Experience in a senior administrative, coordination, executive support, parish, governance or comparable role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate people, information, meetings, actions and deadlines across a varied workload
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Professional, welcoming and collaborative approach
  • Ability to build constructive relationships across parishes, clergy, diocesan teams and external contacts
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretionUnderstanding of, and sympathy with, the mission and values of the Church of England, or willingness to learn about diocesan structures, parish life and Church of England practices
  • Ability to travel to the Isle of Wight as required for work
  • Successful applicant must undertake appropriate safeguarding training and a DBS check where applicable
