  • Advise on commercial real estate matters across health and social care, including acquisitions and disposals, leases, licences, asset management, development arrangements, estate projects, portfolio work, due diligence and reporting
  • Support senior lawyers on complex, high-value or strategically important transactions
  • Lead appropriate transactions and act as a day-to-day client contact
  • Understand client objectives and the public-sector, regulatory, funding and operational environment of healthcare property
  • Advise on the interaction between property arrangements and health and social care service delivery
  • Collaborate with construction, planning, property litigation, portfolio management, corporate, commercial, procurement, regulatory, finance and tax colleagues
  • Manage matters, including scope, priorities, timetables, budgets, reporting and stakeholder expectations
  • Comply with client protocols and firm requirements concerning files, conflicts, confidentiality, data security, financial management, billing and risk management
  • Contribute to know-how, precedents, training, technology and process improvement
  • Participate in client care, relationship development, tenders, seminars, thought leadership and business development
  • Support junior colleagues through collaboration, knowledge sharing, supervision and feedback

Requirements

  • Solicitor qualified in England and Wales
  • Normally 1-3 years' PQE for the Solicitor role, 3-5 years' PQE for the Associate role or 5+ years' PQE for the Senior Associate role
  • Equivalent experience will be considered and applications assessed on their individual merits
  • Relevant commercial real estate experience gained in private practice, in-house or the public sector
  • Sound experience of landlord and tenant matters, acquisitions and disposals, due diligence and reporting
  • Strong technical ability, careful drafting and sound judgement
  • Interest in how property supports health and social care services
  • Willingness to build knowledge of NHS and independent-sector structures, healthcare regulation, funding models and operational assets
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and advisers
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and recognise boundaries of competence and authority
  • Strong organisation and matter-management skills
  • Positive approach to innovation, legal technology and process improvement
  • Evidence appropriate to level of contributing to business development, client relationships, knowledge sharing and colleague development
