- Manage and develop key work packages of multi-discipline engineering designs across the project lifecycle
- Prepare and develop architectural deliverables and supporting information, including models, drawings, diagrams, schedules and reports
- Produce, develop and manage 3D models in compliance with the BIM Execution Plan
- Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors and suppliers to define and accurately design interfaces
- Work within a Common Data Environment in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan and undertake QA/QC activities
- Deliver activities within budget and schedule while maintaining technical integrity and reporting holds, blockers and challenges
- Ensure work complies with client briefs, design regulations, standards and procedures
- Assist with future tenders and bids
- Help grow the Architectural Function within Costain Engineering Limited
- Promote company values and high standards of safe and ethical behaviour
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies, legislation and client requirements
- Collaborate with business development, work-winning and marketing functions on new opportunities and tender development
- Develop and review engineering strategies, estimates, schedules, risk registers, engineering gates and technical proposals
- Support the Discipline Manager in developing and mentoring project engineering team members
- Support improvement of project engineering processes, workflows, methods, competencies, software systems and technical standards
- Capture and embed project lessons learned
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Architectural Technology (BSc), Architecture (BArch) or similar professional qualification, or qualification to City & Guilds or HNC/HND level
- Minimum of 5 yearsโ experience in industry or practice
- Demonstrable proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and MS Office
- In-depth understanding of BIM and BS EN ISO 19650
- Extensive experience working at Concept/FEED stages of the project life cycle
- Strong knowledge of design working practices, UK legislation and British Standards
- Strong technical detailing of architectural elements, including external and internal building fabric
- Understanding of Designer duties under CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act, plus awareness of relevant legislation
- Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to work from the Costain Manchester Office a minimum of 3 days a week and potentially 5 days depending on project security aspects
- Mobility to travel to Costain/client offices, project sites and suppliers
- Eligibility to achieve SC clearance โ UK Citizen or 5 Years UK Residency
- Experience in requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment (desirable)
- Strong engineering and business system/software skills (desirable)
- Civils, Structures and Infrastructure knowledge (desirable)
- Nuclear, Chemical or similar process industry sector experience (desirable)
- Registration/chartership with relevant professional body such as CIAT, RIBA or CIOB (desirable)
