Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with community groups, faith organisations, and grassroots networks.
- Promote STI testing, contraception, PrEP and other treatments to various different communities and professionals.
- Plan, deliver, or attend outreach activities across London.
- Act as a visible, approachable ambassador for SHL.UK, building awareness and trust in our services.
- Work closely with VCSE organisations and NHS sexual health clinics.
- Identify new, strategically relevant partnership opportunities and support onboarding of community partners.
- Promote postal testing kits and SmartKits through targeted campaigns.
- Support the distribution and demonstration of testing kits in community settings.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, contacts, and outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience in community engagement, outreach, public health, or a related field.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Confident using digital tools: Microsoft 365, video conferencing, and basic data reporting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse communities.
- Non-judgemental, empathetic, able to build trust quickly and happy to work as part of the team.
- Understanding of the barriers faced by queer communities, people living with HIV, women, African and Caribbean communities, migrants, and other people affected by health inequalities.
- Understanding of confidentiality, boundaries, safeguarding, and safe working practices.
- Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to adapt to new priorities.
- Based in London with the ability to travel across the city and occasionally to Sheffield.
