Responsibilities
- Update case management system with file allocations, diary records, court dates, directions, applications and orders, and general activity, ensuring accurate recording for progress tracking.
- Draft routine court documents, including AOS, Notice of Change, Court Orders, Witness Summons, and precedent-based applications.
- Liaise with Courts, Counsel, Opponents, Experts, Witnesses, Insureds and brokers to progress the case, including updates, extensions to comply with directions, handling mandates with GP, hospital, OH and personnel; book Counsel for hearings and conferences; and arrange appointments with experts.
- Follow up on outstanding instructions, documents and other actions to ensure responses are received within required timescales.
- Make payment requests using the client’s payment process and chase to ensure payments are received and dispatched within deadlines.
- Diarise and update CRU.
- Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations.
Undertake additional ad hoc duties to support the File Handlers and the team.
- Complete initial steps in recovering our client’s outlay and collate the outcome.
- Undertake minor investigations on liability and quantum to provide File Handlers with basic information to progress claims.
Undertake administration duties on files, including completion of MI, drafting write-off forms, requesting final bills and dealing with billing queries; and file closure/transfer activities.
Requirements
- Experience of working in a legal environment is desirable.
- Good communication skills and experience of negotiating with and influencing third parties to obtain information.
- Demonstrable experience of following a semi-prescribed programme of work.
- Ability to deal with calls and enquiries from customers, suppliers and/or the public.
- Gathering and recording information.
- Ability to work under own initiative, prioritising and organising own workload.
- IT literate.
- Proficient in MS Office (notably Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Experience of using a Claims/Case Management system.
- Proficient in the use of alphanumeric filing systems.
- GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent.
