Job Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal advice on real estate and construction matters
- Support the Network Development & Property and Construction & Design teams with the existing property portfolio and network expansion plans
- Partner with the business to identify issues proactively and solve problems
- Undertake initial title, planning and construction due diligence during site searches
- Review, draft, negotiate and advise on real estate and construction contracts
- Advise on landlord and tenant laws and their strategic application to the property portfolio
- Manage external counsel appointments and translate legal advice for stakeholders
- Develop and maintain a precedent base
- Develop and provide training to the business
- Monitor legislation and leading practices and advise ahead of legislative changes to ensure compliance
- Report directly to the Senior Legal Counsel for Real Estate and Construction
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor with proven post qualification experience as a real estate lawyer
- Expertise in landlord and tenant law
- Sound commercial awareness and good communication skills
- Pragmatic, commercial and risk-based approach
- Flexibility and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing stakeholder demands
- Experience using AI to support day-to-day work
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and high-growth business
- Experience of construction law and planning law (preferred, not required)
- In-house experience, including working with external counsel (preferred, not required)
- Private practice experience (preferred, not required)
